What good looks like

A dated request with correct type, balance context, approval decision, and visible schedule impact.

Have these details ready

  • Requested dates or partial-day hours
  • Leave type and reason detail allowed by policy
  • Approver and known coverage impact

Run the workflow

  1. Create the request

Select Create, choose leave type, dates/times, and policy-appropriate note. Verify local work dates before saving.

  2. Review employee context

Check available balance, overlapping requests, holidays, prior leave, blackout rules, and required documentation.

  3. Check operational coverage

Review scheduled jobs, on-call duty, team capacity, skill/certification coverage, and payroll cutoff.

  4. Approve, reject, or clarify

Open the request and use the supported decision. Record a clear policy or coverage reason without adding sensitive medical detail.

  5. Verify downstream visibility

Confirm status, balance effect, team calendar/schedule visibility, and any required reassignment or payroll handoff.

Check your work

Do not call the workflow complete until these statements are true.

  • Request dates and leave type are correct
  • The decision and approver are recorded
  • Scheduled work and coverage reflect the approved absence

If something does not look right

The employee is already scheduled

Coordinate reassignment before approval is treated as operationally complete.

The balance appears wrong

Pause the decision and verify accrual, carryover, prior approvals, and policy configuration with HR.
