Converting a lead transitions a qualified opportunity into a permanent Customer Account in Service Opus. This action automates the duplication of customer records, links historical lead communication directly to the new account, and prepares the client for billing and job dispatching.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Locate the Lead
Go to the Leads Dashboard (/leads/dashboard) and search for the lead by name. Click on the lead card to open the lead details page at /leads/view/{id}.
Click "Convert to Customer"
In the header actions panel of the lead workspace, locate and click the Convert to Customer button. If the lead has already been converted, this button will say Open Customer instead.
Confirm and Review Redirect
The system will display a loading spinner while it maps the lead information, creates the new customer records in the database, and flags the lead status. Once complete, you will be automatically redirected to the new Customer Profile page at /customers/view/{newCustomerId}/profile.
What Information is Copied?
During conversion, Service Opus maps fields from the lead to create the customer record:
- Contact Information: First Name, Last Name, Phone, and Email are copied to the primary contact profile.
- Company Identity: If a Company Name was specified on the lead, the customer account is created as a commercial profile using that company name.
- Lead Source & Attribution: The lead source and UTM parameters (e.g. Campaign, Referrer) are linked to the customer record for marketing ROI analysis.
- Audit Connection: A permanent link is established between the lead and the customer. You can access the originating lead history directly from the customer's activity log.
