How to Use the Mobile App Offline

3 min read
Feature: Offline

The Service Opus Mobile App supports full offline execution. Field technicians can view job assignments, capture photos, log time, and collect signatures in remote areas without cellular data connections.

Business Outcome
Offline compatibility keeps field operations moving without interruption. Once connections are restored, files sync automatically, ensuring seamless office billing.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Sync Agenda Before Leaving Connectivity

While connected to office Wi-Fi or cellular network, open the mobile app and click Sync Agenda. This caches your day's jobs, customer files, and parts catalog.

2

Operate in Offline Mode

When data is lost, a banner status reads 'Offline Mode'. You can still open job cards, read histories, and navigate schedules.

3

Record Field Data and Statuses

Update job status tags (En Route, Checked In, Complete), log inventory items used, fill out checklists, and type notes. Data is written to local storage.

4

Collect Offline Signatures

Present the signature pad to the customer. The app captures and cryptographically signs the digital signature, saving it locally.

5

Reconnect and Auto-Sync

Once you return to cellular coverage or Wi-Fi, open the app. The system automatically pushes queued updates and uploads images in the background.

Validation Rules

To keep operations reliable, Service Opus enforces the following rules for this workflow:

  • Conflict Warning: If a job was modified on the dispatcher board while you were offline, the sync utility will flag a conflict and request manual review.
Important Rule
Do not log out of the mobile app or clear your browser storage while changes are pending sync. This will erase cached data that has not reached the server.
